COVID-19 Policy and Precautions

Keeping Our Community Safe: COVID-19 Policy and Precautions

NELA is committed to holding an in-person Spring Seminar—but only so long as it is possible within public health guidelines provided by federal health officials, the city of Chicago, and The Palmer House Chicago (the event venue).

All attendees will be required to provide proof of vaccination, including booster, during onsite registration. Attendees are required to present proof of three doses of either the Moderna or Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson and an additional booster dose. If you are unable to be vaccinated for medical or religious reasons, please contact Jeffrey A. Mittman for accommodation. Any non-vaccinated individuals must test negative for COVID-19 24 hours in advance of the event. Masks are required at all indoor gatherings, including plenary and concurrent sessions regardless of vaccination status.

Participants will be denied entry if experiencing symptoms of COVID-19. NELA staff will have masks, hand sanitizer, and a limited supply of COVID-19 rapid tests available at the registration desk.

* You may wish to consider purchasing refundable fare travel tickets. For example, if Chicago, IL were to restrict travel into the city in early April or cancel all public gatherings, we would be required to cancel or re-schedule the event at the last minute.

City of Chicago update: Effective February 28, 2022, the City of Chicago has removed the mask and vaccine requirements for certain public spaces. Masks are required by federal law on airplanes, buses, trains, and other forms of public transportation traveling into, within, or out of the United States and in U.S. transportation hubs such as airports and stations.
