Many employment statutes require administrative exhaustion with state or federal agencies as a prerequisite to filing suit. Missing these deadlines is one of the easiest ways to commit malpractice, and the web of overlapping deadlines and administrative exhaustion requirements can be overwhelming to new lawyers. Our speaker(s) will give an overview of some of the many federal employment statutes that require administrative exhaustion and tips for navigating the web of administrative agencies.

Lauren is a member of the New York State Bar and earned her J.D. from Northeastern University School of Law in Boston, MA. She passionately supports GELC's mission through a variety of means, including litigation, organizational development, and policy and advocacy initiatives on critical gender issues. At GELC, she leads its violence against women initiatives and represents low-income women and LGBTQ individuals facing gender-based discrimination in the workplace. Lauren's previous works includes assisting victims of intimate partner violence secure protection orders through Northeastern's Domestic Violence clinic; working to curtail the impact of sexual assault on victims' safety, education, and housing at the Victim Rights Law Center; collaborating with UN working groups on policy campaigns against using rape as a weapon of war at the Global Justice Center; and focusing on the use of judicial strategies to protect women facing anti-abortion laws at the Center for Reproductive Rights.
