The Honorable Abdul K. Kallon is a United States District Judge for the Northern District of Alabama. He was nominated by President Barak Obama on July 31, 2009, and received his presidential appointment on January 4, 2010. Judge Kallon graduated from Dartmouth in 1990 with an A.B. in History. After Dartmouth, Judge Kallon attended the University of Pennsylvania Law School, from which he received his law degree in 1993. Judge Kallon subsequently came to Birmingham in August 1993 to work as a law clerk for the Hon. U. W. Clemon, whom he eventually had the honor of succeeding as a judge. Following his clerkship with Judge Clemon, Judge Kallon joined the law firm of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP in October 1994, and for the next sixteen years, practiced in the firm’s litigation and labor and employment sections. He left the firm in January 2010 with fond memories and unparalleled experiences that are serving him well on the bench. He is a member of the board of directors of Children’s Village.
