David Weil is Professor of Markets, Public Policy and Law and Everett W. Lord Distinguished Faculty Scholar at Boston University School of Management. He also serves as co-Director of the Transparency Policy Project at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. He is a leading international expert on workplace and labor market policy and on the use of transparency in public policy. His current research focuses on the restructuring of employment and its impact on workplace and labor market conditions, income distribution, and the regulation of work. A forthcoming book, The Fissured Workplace (Harvard University Press, 2013) presents the results of this research. He has authored and co-authored four other books and over 85 articles and publications in academic and popular journals. Professor Weil has worked as an advisor to the U.S. Department of Labor, its Wage and Hour Division, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration, and other agencies on regulatory policy. He also advises a number of other federal and state government agencies as well as workplace agencies in several countries. Weil serves as Chairman of the Dunlop Commission on Agricultural Labor and as a mediator and advisor in a range of labor union and labor/management settings. Weil received his Bachelor of Science degree at Cornell University and Master’s and Ph.D. in Public Policy at Harvard University.
