Bennet D. Zurofsky is a partner with Reitman Parsonnet, P.C. in Newark, New Jersey, where he specializes in the representation of unions and employees, as well as in Constitutional Law. Active in NELA, he is a member of the Ethics & Sanctions Committee and the Amicus Advisory Council. As a neutral, he has served as Special Master for the United States District for the District of New Jersey in litigation relating to inmates' rights at the Essex County Jail, Jail Annex and Youth House. He is a past Chairman of The New Jersey Supreme Court's District Ethics Committee for Essex County. He is also on the list of mediators for the New Jersey Superior Court. Mr. Zurofsky is presently a member of the Executive Committee of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He has served as a member of the National Advisory Board of the AFL-CIO Lawyers Coordinating Committee, the Executive Committee of NELA-NJ, and the Executive Committee of the Labor and Employment Section of the New Jersey State Bar Association. He is a Contributing Editor of The Developing Labor Law, and several other volumes on labor topics, has published several articles and has lectured on many labor, employment and attorney ethics topics. He is a former Adjunct Professor for Rutgers Law School, Newark. Among other professional honors, Mr. Zurofsky is listed in Woodard/Whitels "The Best Lawyers in America" and as a New Jersey "Super Lawyer." The New Jersey Plaintiff Employment Lawyers' Association named him "Employees' Best Friend" in 1996. Mr. Zurofsky received his law degree from Rutgers Law School-Newark, where he was the recipient of the Alumni Scholar prize. He served as a Law Clerk to the Honorable Harold A. Ackerman of the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey. He is also a folksinger and topical song writer, with a particular interest in songs of the labor and peace movements. As such, he is the Director of the Solidarity Singers of the NJ Industrial Union Council, with whom he has recorded a cd, "Solidarity – It Can't Be Beat.”
