Jim Knoepp is a Senior Supervising Attorney with the Southern Poverty Law Center’s Immigrant Justice Project in Atlanta, Georgia. With SPLC, Mr. Knoepp primarily litigates class action suits on behalf of guestworkers. He was recently part of litigation teams that won a $4.5 million jury verdict on behalf of a class of 350 H-1B teachers from the Philippines, and secured an $11.5 million judgment on behalf of a class of approximately 4,000 Guatemalan and Mexican H-2B forestry workers. Mr. Knoepp has also helped obtain multi-million dollar settlements on behalf of classes of H-2A and H-2B guestworkers. Prior to joining SPLC, Mr. Knoepp was the Litigation Director at the Legal Aid Justice Center in Charlottesville, Virginia, and the Legal Director of that program’s Immigrant Advocacy Project. He was a 1998 recipient of a Skadden Fellowship, where he worked at the Migrant Farmworker Justice Project in Belle Glade, Florida following his graduation from Loyola Law School in Los Angeles. Mr. Knoepp has extensive experience representing all types of immigrant workers in wage and hour suits.
