Mary Ellen Signorille is a senior attorney in the AARP Foundation Litigation. She has appeared as counsel of record for AARP in over 20 amicus curiae briefs filed before the Supreme Court presenting AARP's view on the Employee Retirement Income and Security Act. She has also prepared numerous amicus curiae briefs on pension and employee benefits laws on behalf of AARP in cases before the U.S. Court of Appeals, federal district and state courts. Before joining AARP, Ms. Signorille was in private law practice in an international law firm where she represented national and local employee benefit plans. Ms. Signorille's bar activities include appointment as Plaintiff's Co-Chair to the American Bar Association's Labor and Employment Law's Employee Benefit Committee. She has co-authored the Reporting and Disclosure and Preemption chapters of BNA's Employee Benefits Law. She is a former Co-Chair and Steering Committee member of the District of Columbia Bar's and Employment Law Section. She is a frequent for the ABA's CLE programs as well as the national Employment Lawyers Association. She has been named one of the top employee benefits lawyers by the National Law Journal and was elected to the initial class of the American College of Employee Benefits Counsel. Ms. Signorille received her law degree from Catholic University law School and is a recipient of a Master's in Labor Law from Georgetown University Law Center.
