General Questions

I need to speak to a lawyer. Can NELA help me?

If you feel you have been treated unfairly in the workplace, you may search for a lawyer using our Find-A-Lawyer service. NELA does not offer legal assistance and cannot provide consultations to the general public.

NELA is a specialty bar association for those attorneys in the legal profession who exclusively or primarily represent workers in employment disputes. NELA provides help and support to lawyers protecting the rights of workers through networking, educational programs, publications and technical assistance.

I am a member of the press and would like to speak to someone about workplace issues concerning employees or legislative initiatives. Who do I contact?

NELA is happy to discuss issues concerning equality and justice in the American workplace with members of the press. Please direct inquiries to Terisa E. Chaw, NELA Executive Director, tchaw@nelahq.org, (415) 296-7629. You may also follow us on Twitter at NELA_HQ.

For more information about NELA's vision and programs, please visit our About Us page.

How do I join NELA?

You can join online or download an application and fax or mail it to us. Please note you must be an attorney or legal paraprofessional practicing plaintiff's employment law. Visit our Membership page for membership requirements, benefits, and services.

Can I purchase NELA's continuing legal education manuals and audio recordings even though I'm not a member?

Yes! All our continuing legal education programs are audio recorded and available for purchase and immediate download. A list of continuing legal education topics available for purchase can be found in our On Demand Library.

How do I get information about a local NELA Affiliate?

A list of NELA Affiliates is available via a drop down list on the left side of this page. Some of our Affiliates have a website and a link will be provided from their listing. Feel free to contact us by email at affiliates@nelahq.org for more information.

How can I learn more about The Employee Rights Advocacy Institute For Law & Policy, NELA's related charitable public interest organization?

We invite you to contact The Institute at (415) 296-7629 or visit The Institute's website at wwww.employeerightsadvocacy.org.
