Honorable Jane Dolkart is a 1972 graduate of Columbia University Law School where she was a member of the law review and a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar. She has an LLM from Georgetown University School of Law. She was a law professor for 21 years, first at Catholic University from 1973- 1978, and later at Southern Methodist University from 1990-2006, and has been a visiting professor at the University of Iowa, American University and the University of North Carolina. Ms. Dolkart has taught in the areas of civil litigation, employment law, civil rights and employment discrimination under various federal and state statutes including the Americans with Disabilities Act. From 1979-1980 Ms. Dolkart was the Executive Assistant and Legal Counsel to the Chair of the EEOC, and was then an Assistant General Counsel at the agency. For 7 years Ms. Dolkart was in private practice in the areas of employment, civil rights and other public interest law. Ms. Dolkart has acted as a consultant to disability rights groups. She has been a Special Education Due Process Hearing Examiner for the District of Columbia Office of the State Superintendent for Education since June 2007.
