J. Roberto Mendoza has been a Spanish language and culture consultant for over 30 years. He attended medical school for three years in Guatemala and completed his studies in cultural anthropology in Chicago. His clients include different federal and state law enforcement agencies, international organizations, diplomatic missions, and Fortune 500 companies such as Motorola, McDonald’s and the like. Mr. Mendoza has also provided consulting services for different institutions of higher learning such as the Kellogg Graduate School of Management, the University of Chicago, the Harvard University School of Public Health, DePaul University, Yale University, and many more. Additionally, he has interpreted for U.S. and foreign dignitaries, high profile court proceedings, national and international summits, film festivals, focus groups, seminars, conventions, and medical congresses in fields such as joint replacement surgery, ophthalmology, E and T, AIDS, pharmacology, DNA, and infectious diseases to name a few. Mr. Mendoza’s live Spanish simulcasts include, Night Line, This Week with David Brinkley, CNN Headline News, UNIVISION and numerous live presidential, senatorial, and gubernatorial debates in the last 20 years. His experiences also include working as an ethnographer, forensic linguist, ethnic marketing consultant, bilingual facilitator, narrator, voice actor, translator, and producer/director of industrial and commercial videos in Spanish. Mr. Mendoza has also testified as an expert witness in federal and state courts in excess of 100 times and has served as an examiner for the U.S. Court Interpreter Certification Program. As a first-row spectator of world events, he has developed a unique ability to view reality through different cultural lenses.
