Victoria W. Ni graduated summa cum laude from Boston University, and was a cum laude graduate from New York University School of Law. After clerking on the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, she was an associate at two New York law firms, Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison and Reboul, MacMurray, Hewitt, Maynard & Kristol (now part of Ropes & Gray). While in private practice, Vicky handled complex commercial litigation matters as well as public interest cases regarding the constitutionality of school voucher programs and the use of statistical sampling in the decennial census. She is now a Staff Attorney in the Oakland, CA office of Public Justice, a national public interest law firm dedicated to preserving access to justice and holding the powerful accountable in the courts. Vicky serves as a member of NELA’s Board of Directors and co-chairs NELA’s Amicus
Advisory Council. Since joining Public Justice in 2000, Vicky has worked on a variety of cases brought to protect equal opportunity in athletics and in the workplace; consumers’ and victims’ rights; rights of the disabled; and free speech. She has handled both class action and individual employment discrimination claims in her practice. Recently, her work with co-counsel forced the Indiana High School Athletic Association to eliminate a state-wide rule preventing girls from participating in high school baseball. She currently represents a Sikh American man alleging religious discrimination by a potential employer in Indiana federal court.
