David M. deRubertis is the principal in The deRubertis Law Firm, where he focuses on employee rights litigation and trial work. While based in Los Angeles, Mr. deRubertis handles cases throughout the state. He graduated magna cum laude from UCLA and summa cum laude from Loyola Law School, Los Angeles. Mr. deRubertis represents employees in harassment, discrimination, retaliation, wrongful termination, defamation, or any other matters against their current or former employers. While he handles a wide variety of employment-related matters, he particularly focuses on disability discrimination/reasonable accommodation and family/medical leave matters. From 2005 through 2009, Mr. deRubertis was voted a Southern California Rising Star Super Lawyer by Los Angeles Magazine/Law & Politics, and in 2009, Mr. deRubertis was invited and offered membership into The American Trial Lawyers Association—a membership offered to 100 trial lawyers in each state. He is a member of the Executive Board of the California Employment Lawyers Association and was a member of the Executive Committee of the California State Bar Labor & Employment Law section, and an active member of the National Employment Lawyers Association. He is a frequent lecturer at continuing legal education seminars and has published articles in various professional journals on topics including employment law, evidence and trial tactics and strategy. Mr. deRubertis is also a Contributing Editor of the Rutter Guide: Employment Litigation’s chapter on Disability Discrimination, a member of the Editorial Board of “The Forum” (CAOC’s montly publication), and a member of the Editorial Advisory Board for the publication “Representing California Sexual Harassment Plaintiffs,” Nancy Bornn (James Publishing, 2004).
