Janice Goodman has specialized in employee rights issues on behalf of employees for over 35 years. She has successfully litigated many important Title VII class actions on behalf of women and racial minorities. She has also represented individuals in other employment matters including age discrimination claims, ADA claims, and employment contracts. Ms. Goodman is the General Editor of the National Employment Lawyers Association’s three-volume practitioners guide on employment litigation “Employee Rights Litigation: Pleading and Practice” (Matthew Bender, 1991). She was elected as a Fellow of the College of Labor and Employment Lawyers in 1995. In 2006 New York Magazine cited her as among 50 female super lawyers in New York. Ms. Goodman continues to be cited as a “super lawyer” in New York. She was a member of the Executive Board of the National Employment Lawyers Association (NELA), a former Vice President of NELA, and a founding member of NELA/NY. Ms. Goodman was Chair of the Civil Rights Committee of the Association of the Board of the City of New York and was appointed by former Governor Mario Cuomo to the Governor’s Task Force on Sexual Harassment. She has lectured and written extensively on various employment discrimination issues at the ABA Labor and Employment Section, PLI, and the Labor and Employment Section of the New York State Bar Association. Ms. Goodman has also taught employment discrimination law courses and courses on women and the law at Rutgers School of Law, the Benjamin Cardozo School of Law, and the New York School of Law. Ms. Goodman received her B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, and a J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1971.
