Toni Jaramilla has practiced employment law exclusively since 1994, representing workers in claims of discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wrongful termination, and California Labor Code violations. She is an experienced litigator in both state and federal court and has successfully argued before the California Court of Appeal in cases involving violations of the Fair Employment and Housing Act, and has successfully challenged the enforcement of arbitration agreements in the employment context. She is the current Chair of the California Employment Lawyers Association (CELA) and served as Chair of its Diversity Outreach Committee. Through the Diversity Committee, she helped establish scholarships, fellowships, and educational programs to encourage women and those of multi-cultural backgrounds to practice employment law. Ms. Jaramilla also served as Chair of the Labor and Employment Law Section of the California State Bar (2004-2005) and is currently an Advisor. Ms. Jaramilla was the 2010 recipient of CELA’s “Joe Posner Award” which is a distinguished recognition given once a year to an individual who exemplifies the inspiring qualities found in Joe Posner, the late co-founder of CELA. Ms. Jaramilla was selected as a Southern California “Rising Star” for 2004. From 2005 through 2012, she was recognized as one of the top 2.5% of Southern California lawyers for Super Lawyers Magazine, and featured in Los Angeles Magazine and Law & Politics Magazine. Ms. Jaramilla’s peers have voted her to be included in the 2006 through 2012 editions of “The Best Lawyers in America”. She had been profiled twice in the Los Angeles Daily Journal, and was profiled in the Los Angeles Magazine in a tribute to “Women Leaders in the Law” in 2009 and 2012 and “The Top LA Women Lawyers” in October 2011. Ms. Jaramilla is a frequent speaker and invited guest on panels and radio shows on the topic of employment law.
